Welcome to the English Corner of FrauenUrSachen! We want to celebrate women and everything about them. Women who do and achieve, who ask and question, who fail and rise. We want to celebrate women because they are simply worth it and the world should know, accept, and admit that.
People often don’t even know about so many of female issues, problems, or achievements, since these are not really in focus. We still live in the men’s world in which women mostly come second, if at all. There are yet so many firsts for women, in all corners of the world. And beside firsts, there are so many other female topics that deserve more attention. Women are artists, healers, storytellers, mothers, caregivers. Much the same, they are scientists, engineers, managers, doctors, leaders. They are survivalists. And, believe it or not, they can be brave, hilarious, emphatic, they can be wonderful, witty, and wild. Whatever – just embrace it!
Thus, our mission is to bring articles, films, events, etc. about women closer to you all, men included (men - we love you and we want you to know that women being more appreciated will, in turn, make you stronger π). Knowing more about women will help us all be better.
Most women have been wearing one since they were teens. The moment the boobs start their bloom, girls want to embellish their chests with that lacey cover. It can provide both shelter and support, it is intriguing and charming, secretive and even provocative. If you consider yourself a proficient bra-wearer, how many different kinds of bras can you tell apart?

Have you heard what the first female president of the European Commission, Ursula Von der Leyen, experienced during her recent visit to Turkey? Well, she wasn’t treated like a commission president at all. Rather, what happened to her indeed mirrored the poor treatment that so many women around the world get day in day out. She tells it all!

Antonia: The Portrait of the Conductor
08.04.2021
The other night, I got introduced to Antonia Brico, a woman who – luckily – didn’t know “her place” in the 1920s and beyond! Against all the odds, she became the first female conductor to lead major orchestras in the US, Europe, and even wider. Not surprisingly, I fell in love with the passion, perseverance, and artistry of this woman and had to ask myself, how comes that I haven’t known her before?

Turkish women have been on their feet since the country’s president withdrew from a European treaty on fighting violence against women. Is there any value in a woman’s life? How long will women have to demonstrate against the same issues like, for example, sexual harassment or domestic violence?

Verbalising somebody's sentiment in the medium of song is not new, yet this song puts the sentiment of women being empowered into words, women who then go as far as trying to look forward to even further challenges.

Body trauma

Have you learned to accept your body as it is? Unfortunately, still a hard undertaking for so many women … Yet, in some professions this is not only about one’s own perception. Namely, for some women, it is their body that directly determines whether they are given specific work or not.
